Home Practice Musings...

It sure has been interesting moving our yoga practice home, hasn't it?  I hope you have been able to carve out some space in your home and in your busy new normal of having your kids home all day to get your yoga in!
But there are a lot of really interesting things that I have noticed, and maybe you have too...
Firstly, the balance!  It's amazing how much you come to rely on the mirrors to keep your balance.  But this is a great opportunity to really pay attention to your body--to really notice what the posture feels like, rather than paying attention to what it looks like.  The mirrors are definitely an important tool, which is why the studio has them; but this is a chance to try and increase your mindfulness about your body and mind, without relying on them.
Secondly, the heat!  No matter how good your space heater is, you probably can't get your yoga nook to 105 degrees.  And that's ok!  Some ways to heat yourself up a little more is to wear more clothing (I use my long undies!), or take a hot shower first.  Make sure you respect the colder temperatures, and don't push it the way you do in the hot studio.  Again, it's a new opportunity for mindfulness.
And that's really the take-away I hope you get...that despite the disadvantages of practicing at home, there are a lot of benefits you can glean.
I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy,
Much love!
Steph
